*To broaden pupils’ English vocabulary - to reduce the number of childen scoring a STen 5 or lower on the DPRT (Vocabulary) to below 45% by June 2020 (currently 50%)
*To improve children’s comhrá and understanding of Gaeilge neamhfhoirmiúil - that each child will improve from their September baseline by 10% by May
*To embed ICT activities that are supportive of language acquisition into regular practice in each room
1.Genre based approach to oral and written expression in senior half of the school
2.Free writing incorporated into English activities
3. Identification and regular use of one app/software in each room to support vocabulary and oral language development (e.g. Storybird, Wordalot, CJ Fallon etc)
5.Specific language initiatives – Integrated Play, Reader’s Theatre, Precision teaching, Power Hour etc.
