Infants with Miss Kelly -2023/2024
FEBRUARY
The Vet/The Farm
We know Spring time is a very busy time for the people in Clonbullogue, so we've been learning all about Spring and looking at ways in which we can help animals through this very busy season by helping the vets and local farmers from our classroom!
We love being active!
We are very lucky to be working with Imelda from Offaly GAA who is helping us improve our Gaelic Football and Fundamental Movement Skills, as well as practicing our pilates with Aisleen, where we are focusing on our good movement habits, as well as our balance and co-ordination.
JANUARY
We were super busy doing lots of important work and getting back into our school routine after a lovely Christmas break. We put lots of focus on learning our numbers and our sounds, while having lots of fun along the way!
DECEMBER
Christmas is coming!
The Infants' have been super busy filling our classroom with Christmas spirit. We have been learning about the Post Office - writing letters, creating cards and sending post through our post box. We are also enjoying helping Santa in his workshop, building presents and toys and we are loving decorating our classroom! Our elf Buddy has also been up to lots of mischief and we love coming in each morning to see what tricks he has been up while we've been away.
Zumba
Watch our excellent dance moves!
NOVEMBER
Food
Our main theme for the month of November was 'Food'. We learned about the Café, the Bakery and the Restaurant during Aistear. We created 'food art' including apple stamping, spaghetti bolognese with wool and crepe paper. We listened and learned lots of new vocabulary and looked at different themed pictures books based on different foods and meal times. During Literacy, we got the chance to practice our procedure writing by sequencing how to make funny face biscuits and making jam sandwiches in the classroom. During SPHE time we placed a big focus on our 5 senses, and discovered more about our sight, hearing, taste, touch and smell.
OCTOBER
Halloween
Juniors and Seniors had a brilliant last day of half-term celebrating their Halloween break, with a Witches' Walk around the school, showing off all our beautiful costumes to the school community. We also said goodbye to Ms. Bennett on this day, where we presented her with handmade cards which we created during art time.
'Show and Tell' for SPHE
Junior and Senior Infants had a great time during 'Show and Tell' today as part of our SPHE lesson based on the title of 'Getting to Know Me'. Each child was asked to bring their favourite toy, teddy, photograph or book to school today and each child got an opportunity to tell the class about their object and why it was special to them. Everybody did a super job at telling us why the object was important to them from our show and tell chair, or from their own chairs. Well done everyone!
Cluain Bolg Abú!
The boys and girls were busy all week decorating and showing their colours in support of the Clonbullogue's Senior B team who are playing in the County Final on Sunday. We wish the club the very best of luck! Up Clonbullogue!
SEPTEMBER
We have had a brilliant September in Clonbullogue N.S., getting to know all our new friends and taking part in lots of learning activities too.
This month we have put lots of focus on Aistear, which is where we learn through play. We have looked at the themes of 'Myself and my family', 'Birthdays', 'The Doctor' and 'The Dentist'.
We really look forward to our Aistear time everyday, and you can see all the fun and learning we've taken part in from the pictures below!
