The Covid-19 situation limited our ability to go on school trips during 2020/21. However, we were lucky to be able to do a few local trips during June 2021. Thanks to all the parents who brought and collected their children from the locations.
Killinthomas Woods
The junior half of the school had a lovely trip to Killinthomas Woods on June 22nd. They learned about Herb Robert, Robin-run-the-hedge, Speedwell and lots of other plants during the bio-diversity walk, led by Fiona McIntyre. The picnic, supplied by the Parents' Association and co-ordinated by Noeleen Dempsey, was greatly appreciated. The trip finished with a 'scavenger hunt' in the woodlands.
Croghan Hill
The senior half of the school climbed Croghan Hill on June 23rd. The thick mist obscured the view and the wet conditions made climbing difficult, but a good time was still had by all. Damian Lawlor and Miriam Ryan led the walking tours. Lots was learned as a result, about Old Croghan Man, the crowning of the O'Connor Kings of Offaly and the burial mound at the top . Thanks to Sharon, Sinead and Georgina who co-ordinated the picnic provided by the Parents' Association.
Riverbank Walk
The junior and senior infants had a lovely walk on the riverbank in Clonbullogue in June also. They were well-togged out in their luminous jackets, and had a quick snack to keep the energy levels up!
