We pride ourselves on offering our pupils the opportunity to experience a wide range of sporting activities during their time in St Patrick's NS, albeit that we focus on Gaelic Football at competitive levels.
Cumann na mBunscol (Football)
We are very proud of great tradition in Football. Ms McGarrigle and Ms Connor are currently in charge of our football teams, and we were delighted with our win over Rhode NS in the County Final in May 2023. In recent years both teams have been successful on multiple occasions in the County Finals in the autumn and spring competitions.
Clonbullogue GAA club fund the provision of GAA coaching in the school, with Keith O'Neill coaching football skills during Term 2 22/23.

Athletics
We participate in athletics competitions organised by the Offaly Athletics Partnership and The Harriers Athletics Club under the guidance of Ms Connor. The cross-country competition took place this year on October 5th. 1st-4th classes will participate in an athletics competition in April, and we enter the Colm Dunne Memorial Cup each June.
Each Spring we organise a 'Couch to 5K' running initiative for all pupils.

Swimming
2nd-6th classes are brought to swimming lessons in Portarlington Leisure Centre in May/June of each year.
Basketball
The arrival of new basketball hoops over the summer of 2016 inspired a renewed interest in basketball in the school. During November 2022 we prepared for a friendly inter-schools match in Scoil Bhríde Edenderry. We were delighted to receive funding from Cloncreen Windfarm Development Fund which allowed us to re-surface our basketball court over the summer of 2023.
Rugby
1st- 6th classes participate in tag rugby lessons each year, in conjunction with Edenderry Rugby Club. Dermot Tierney is providing tag rugby sessions in Term 1 of 23/24.
Hurling/Camogie
Ms McGarrigle provides indoor hurling training after school on Wednesdays during the winter to interested pupils from 3rd-6th class.
Zumba/Pilates /Yoga
We aim to give our pupils a chance to try a variety of different activities, including those of a non-competitive nature. Dorinda Cuskelly facilitated zumba sessions for all classes during January 2023 and March 2022. Aisleen McEvoy faciliated pilates sessions for all classes during April 2023, December 2020 and November 2019. Helga Einsdottir provided Yoga lessons to all classes during November 2018.
Soccer
We participate in the Spar FAI Primary 5s soccer competition each year. This year's competition took place in Tullamore on March 6th 2023.
Gymnastics
Offaly Sports Partnership generously funded a block of reformative gymnastics for all classes in the school during Term 1 of 22/23.
