Please see our Free Book Scheme Policy below for further details:
- As provided for by the Schoolbook Grant (for the 23/24 school year and as long as this grant is paid by the Department of Education) Clonbullogue NS will provide all school books and copies free of charge to parents.
- The school books will remain the property of the school, and are to be maintained in reasonable condition and returned to the school at the end of each school year. Aside from workbooks (and unless specific permission otherwise is given), children will not be permitted to write on textbooks, so that they may be reused in following years.
- When possible within the funding parameters, basic stationary and other classroom resources may be provided (e.g. pencils, pens, colouring pencils etc). It is envisaged that each child would be provided with one set of these items at the start of the year, and parents will need to provide replacement items if necessary during the year.
- As the items are likely to be standard in appearance, it is extremely important that each item be labelled with the child’s name and parents are asked to assist the school with this.
- Each child will need to provide their own school bag, pencil case and lunch bag to hold their school materials.
- Under the terms of our Code of Behaviour, parents may be asked to reimburse the school for cost of items deliberately damaged or repeatedly lost etc.
- During the initial years of the rollout, parents may have already purchased items that can be carried over to the next academic year (e.g. dictionaries, atlases in the senior classes) and the school will not provide these items under the scheme.
